Having handled countless cases—from misdemeanors to serious felonies—he has spent decades inside the courtroom, mastering trial advocacy, case strategy, and the intricacies of criminal law.
As a former federal prosecutor, Charles knows how the other side builds its cases, where weaknesses often lie, and how to anticipate the strategies of law enforcement and opposing counsel. Charles graduated with honors from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2004. He was a three-time Comfort Scholar at OU Law and he was selected for induction into the Order of the Coif after graduating. Out of law school, Charles joined the United States Department of Justice through the Honors Program. He began his legal career in the Northern District of Texas in Dallas where he was an Assistant United States Attorney responsible for handling a diverse caseload, including immigration crimes, firearms offenses, white collar crimes, drugs, violent crimes, and criminal appeals.
Prior to founding Brown Law in Oklahoma City, Charles was an Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. He was responsible for a broad caseload, including complex white collar crimes, environmental crimes, firearms offenses, immigration crimes, drugs, and violent crimes.
In addition to handling countless cases in Dallas and Oklahoma, Charles has also filed appeals and argued cases at the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in New Orleans and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit in Denver.
Charles grew up in southwest Oklahoma and graduated from high school in Lawton. He then served honorably in the United States Navy for six years, including three years at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, SC, and over two years at the Naval Hospital in Naples, Italy.
